The thesis aims at understanding the drivers and impacts of firms' digital transformation.
Using both a firm-level and an industry-level perspective, the three chapters assess the constraints and the impacts of adopting digital technologies—namely, Industry 4.0 technologies—and the implications for firms' performance, organisational structure, financing dynamics, and the industry-level impacts on international trade.
